Daniel Craig Gentry, 48, of Princeton, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013 in Princeton, Texas. He was born November 12, 1964 in Fort Worth, Texas to J. W. and Paula Yvonne Mozjesik Gentry. He was an avid fisherman, especially Lake Fork. He fished many tournaments, winning a bass boat and a four wheeler. Fishing was his passion. He loved fishing with his fishing buddy Kevin Anderson of 27 years and also his son Craig. Some of his other passions were: NASCAR, Dallas Cowboys, and Rangers, especially when played in the World Series. He recently drove a NASCAR at Texas Motor Speedway and received certificate for reaching speed at 154 m.p.h. He also had a passion for his 300 gallon salt water reef tank. He worked for JBC Steel for 25 years as Operations Manager. He loved country music, attending concerts whenever possible. His favorite artists were, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton and George Strait. His wife Sonja says, Dan was "country to the bone".
He is survived by: Beloved wife Sonja, whom just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary; Son: Craig; Step-daughter: Jennifer and 2 grandchildren, Brothers: Donald of Keller and Kevin of Bonham; Grandmother: Fran Mozjesik; Aunts, Uncles, several nieces and nephews, numerous friends and fishing buddies.
Preceded in death by: Mother: Paula Mozjesik Mohr; Father: J. W. Gentry; Granddad: Fritz Mozjesik
Visitation will be Friday, August 2, 2013 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas. Rev. Stan Fike will officiate.
Memorials may be made in Daniel's name to The Leukemia Foundation, The Alzheimer's Foundation, or plant a tree.
