Dahl Dickey was born May 24, 1952 in Canton, Ohio to parents Nick and June Hansen. Dahl’s father moved the family to Indio, California when she was 5. Dahl Dickey passed away in the early morning of April 2, 2024 with her family at her bedside.
She graduated from Indio High School with the class of 1970. Following graduation she moved to Newport Beach, CA where she worked at Western Digital and met her husband Glenn. At the company Christmas party under the mistle toe Glenn kissed Dahl for the first time, 6 months later Glenn and Dahl were married June 23, 1973.
Glenn and Dahl moved to San Jose, Ca. where they started their family. Eventually Glenn got a job transfer and moved their family to Texas where they lived in Murphy for the last several years to the present. Dahl was a homemaker raising their 2 daughters and their son and grandchildren.
In July 2019 Dahl was finally diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), for 7+ years she battled PSP, like Parkinson’s but worse. I made her a promise that I would fight this disease with her for as long as we could. In 2021 she enrolled in a PSP medication trial at UTSW Research, she took daily medication for a year in hopes it would slow the progression and help find a cure. Her husband of 51 years, Glenn, cared for her at home throughout her illness with a promise to fight this terrible disease together with her, her family was bedside when she passed.
I had a reminder posted every day “ When you are frustrated with me because of the things I cannot do… Just imagine how frustrated I must be because I’m no longer able to…
Be mindful… Show Compassion
They were blessed with 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Dahl and Glenn were very involved in their children’s and grandchildren’s lives attending their sports activities among other things. They also enjoyed motorcycle riding with Panther Creek Harley Owners Group and in the early days, before PSP, rode frequently.
Dahl is survived by her husband, Glenn, daughters, Amy and April, their son, Glenn, Jr., their 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and brothers Chad, Brad and Nick.
