Mrs. Cora Fay (Hall) Wood, a long-time resident of Garland, Texas, entered her eternal reward Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the age of 86.
She was born July 15, 1926 in Haynesville, Louisiana to the late David Sampson Hall, Sr. and Cora Ester (Singleton) Hall.
Mrs. Wood was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God of Garland since January 1, 1948. Before her declining health, she was an active member of the Garland Community. Mrs. Wood presented a great example of living life as a Christian homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Douglas Wood; two brothers, David S. Hall, II and Edward Hall; Flora Oleta Hamilton Gober.
Survivors include her two daughters, and sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Rev. E. Wayne Hanks, Sr. of Rockwall, Texas and Joyce Fay and Rev. Bob N. Towell, Jr. of Kingwood, Texas; son and daughter in-law, Rev. Jimmy Douglas and Linda Wood of Hong Kong; five grandchildren, E. Wayne Hanks, Jr. and his wife, Kristin, Jaimy (Wood) and her husband, Dr. Steve Smith; Courtney (Towell) and her husband, Dr. Derek Miller, Jason Wood and his wife, Michelle, and Christen (Towell) and her husband, Jonathan Brokaw; five great-grandchildren; Reese and Hayden Hanks, Cora Danielle; Noah Douglas Wood and Charles David Brokaw; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th Street, Sachse, Texas 75048.
Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 6, 2012 at First at Firewheel Church, 5500 Lavon Drive, Garland, Texas 75040. Reverend E. Wayne Hanks officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas.
