Cora Faye Petway Darnell

Cora Faye Petway Darnell, age 93, passed away on July 24, 2017 at her home in Princeton, TX. She was born the third of nine children in Elk City, Oklahoma on November 27, 1923 to William and Lois (Russett) Black. She married Willie Petway in 1947 in McKinney, TX where she raised her 5 children. Faye married Dub Darnell in 1973, and she spent her life being a happy homemaker. Cora enjoyed reading, and she loved spending time with her family and friends. Camping with her daughter, Judy, at Catfish Bay on Lake Texoma was always a treat for Cora.

Cora is survived by her five children, Mickey Smith and husband, Roy of Princeton, TX, Teresa Smallwood of Benton, AR, Judy Tackett and husband, Ronald of Princeton, TX, Johnny Petway and wife, Debbie of New Hope, TX, and Eunita Anderson of DeKalb, TX; one sister, Willie Ruth of Canyon, TX; fourteen grandchildren, Robin, Rosalyn, Karen, Cecil, Diana, Jamie, Erica, Ken, Scott, Rodney, Misti, Johnny L., David, and Jerry D.; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lois Black; four brothers, Harley, Hershel, Don, and Mayo; three sisters, Ora May, Eunita, and Marie;her husband, Dub Darnell, in 1999; and former husband, Willie Petway in 1992.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 601 S. Tennessee St., McKinney, TX 75069. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in McKinney with Brother Jack Anderson and Scott Allen officiating. Pallbearers will be Ken, Scott, Rodney, Johnny L, David, and Jerry D. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, TX 75013.
