Claywood Bennett, age 84 passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born April 29, 1935 in Fort Worth. His parents, John Claiborne Bennett and Flossie Kathleen Wood Bennett, were long-time residents of Cleburne.

He graduated from Cleburne High School in 1953. He received his bachelors from Texas Wesleyan University, attended Emory University in Georgia, and ultimately received another bachelor's degree in divinity from Southern Methodist University. He was a minister of the Methodist church, and later he sold insurance and most recently was a business owner in Cleburne. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and the SMU Mustangs and enjoyed fishing and sail boating. He was much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Claywood is survived by one brother, Relton Bennett of Cleburne; a son, John Bennett of Wylie; two daughters, Gay Tackett of Burleson and Jana Ayers and husband Perry from Weatherford; 7 grandchildren, Shane Bennett and wife Brittney of Dike and Brent Bennett of Houston, Jennifer Braswell and husband Kyle of Cleburne, Justin Tackett of Alvarado, Phillip Ayers, Preston Ayers and Paige Ayers, all of Weatherford; and 3 great grandchildren; Hagen, Conner and Kason, all of Cleburne.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
