Claribel Ann Hastings

Claribel Hastings, aged 85, of McKinney, Texas passed away September 4, 2016 in McKinney.



Claribel was born in Jones County, Iowa in 1931. She celebrated her birthday from March 26 to March 29 as soon as she discovered the discrepancy on her birth certificate. She was the daughter of the late Mary Esther Anderson and Carl Anderson. She attended East High School in Waterloo, Iowa, and she was worthy advisor for Rainbow Girls, before graduating in 1949.



She married Leslie Hastings on September 10, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa. Besides being a full time mother and homemaker, she spent her working life as a bookkeeper. She was also an avid reader, sewing enthusiast, wonderful cook and baker, and always had time and emotional support for anyone who needed her.



Claribel was an active member of the First United Methodist Church since childhood, most recently of FUMC of McKinney, Texas.



She is survived by her children: Reverend Jeff Hastings and wife Jeanette of Trinidad, Texas, Janet Short and husband Frank of Des Moines, Iowa, and Christine Schuster of McKinney, Texas and her six grandchildren: Stephen Hastings and wife, Tara, Jennifer Nantt and husband, Brad, Amanda Short, Linsey Short, John Schuster, and Sara Schuster; and three great grandchildren: Annalyn Short, TyAnn Short, and Sophia Nantt.



She was preceded in death by her parents. Her husband of 62 years, Les, preceded her in death on November 22, 2012.



Her life will forever be cherished by her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
