Clarence Tandy Cadenhead

Dr. Clarence Tandy Cadenhead, Jr., known as either CT or Sonny to loved ones, age 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Dallas after a short illness on Saturday, December 15, 2018.
CT was born in Dallas, Texas on October 15, 1930, to Tommie Hughes Cadenhead and Clarence Tandy Cadenhead, Sr. He attended North Dallas High School and graduated at the age of 16.

A beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, CT was proceeded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marie A. Cadenhead, and sister, Dr. Linda Long. Survived by his beloved dog, Mattie, his brother in law, Dr. Ralph Long and his children, Cyndie Marie Davis (husband, Greg), Susan A. Parent (husband, Mike), Charles Tandy Cadenhead (wife, Diane). CT is also survived by grandchildren, John L. Grubbs, Sara Grubbs Polendo, Courtney Davis Schramm (husband, Michael), Carrie Davis McDonald (husband, Matt), Conly Davis, Ethan Parent, Emily Cadenhead, Conner Cadenhead and great granddaughter, Crosby Bird Schramm. CT, the eldest child of two, has been very blessed with many loved and treasured nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.

CT served in the Air Force for four years as an Aerial Weather Reconnaissance Officer and Meteorologist. He continued his military career through the Air Force Reserves, achieving the rank of Major. CT was also an avid runner, as demonstrated in 30 years of marathon running, including the Boston and White Rock marathons. He helped establish one of the first running clubs in Dallas. After retiring from running, CT took up cycling and every year participated in the Hotter Than Hell ride in Wichita Falls, Texas, with many of his family member's. The HTH became a beloved family tradition. CT also loved photography and taking pictures of his beautiful wife, Marie, children and grandchildren. CT believed in serving his community through active participation as a Deacon at Ross Avenue Baptist Church alongside his father and as a Sunday School teacher, and bus driver at Wilshire Baptist Church. He was also a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He took several treks through Philmont Scout Ranch, which included his son, Charlie, grandson, Johnny and granddaughter, Sara. CT loved to take his children and grandchildren fossil hunting, bike riding and wading at White Rock Lake.

CT received his B.A. and M.S. in Mathematics at North Texas, a M.A. in Engineering at SMU and his Ph.D. in Technology at SMU. In his lifetime, he completed two full careers, one at Texas Instruments and the second as a full-time instructor at Richland College, where he worked up until his death. He had said many times that his desire was to go from Richland to Restland. CT remained active in mind, body and spirit up until his last breath.

In celebration of a life well lived, CT's Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 19th at 11:00 AM at Wilshire Baptist Church, 4316 Abrams Rd Dallas, Texas.
