Christopher Ryan Burke

January 16, 1984 – April 10, 2023

Christopher Ryan Burke of Rowlett, Texas was born on January 16th, 1984 in Dallas, Texas, the son of Carol Jean Davis Burke and Arnold Harry Burke, Jr.   He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 10, 2023. He his survived by his mother and father and brother, Richard Chad McCommas, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins of the Burke, Davis and Smallwood families. He was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents, Arnold Harry Burke and Peggy Burke of Garland, Texas and John Henry Davis and Bonnie Davis Childers of Garland, Texas, his uncle, John Henry Davis of Rowlett and his cousin, Wade Allen Davis, of Phoenix, Arizona.

Christopher grew up in Garland, and graduated from South Garland High School. He also attended the Coventry Reserve, a Christian day-hab for adults with special needs for over fifteen years. He attended First Baptist Church, where he was an active member in the Special Needs Sunday School class.

Early in his life, Christopher was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic condition that causes a range of developmental problems, including learning disabilities and cognitive impairment. Usually males are more severely affected by this disorder. Affected individuals have delayed development of speech and language by age 2. Children with Fragile X Syndrome may also have anxiety and hyperactive behavior such as fidgeting or impulsive actions. About one third of individuals with Fragile X Syndrome have features of the autism spectrum disorder that affect communication and social interaction.

As Christopher grew older, he enjoyed swinging in his backporch swing, going out to eat, especially at Chicken Express, going to the beach, shopping with his Mom and his Mamaw, and going to East Texas to visit his aunt Joan and uncle Glen. He woke up each and every day with a smile on his face and had one on his face when he went to bed again at night. He was a very happy young man.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, April 16th, 2023, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2925 5th Street in Sachse, Texas.  A celebration of Christopher’s life will follow immediately after, beginning at 2 o’clock.
