Charles Eric Peter Grove

Charles Eric Peter Grove was born in Livingstone, Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) on January 2, 1943, (80) he passed away on April 30th, 2023 in Wylie, TX.  After immigrating to the United States from South Africa on October 31st, 2005, Eric lived in Richardson, Texas with his beloved wife (of 51 years), Cornelia Johanna (Kotze) Grove, until her death on January 15th, 2019.  After her passing, he lived in Plano, Texas.   Eric is preceded in death by his Father, Charles Nicolaas Grove, his Mother, Iris Kathreen Mary Hayes, and his sister, Alison Margret Alexander.  Eric is survived by his daughter, Heidi Groenewald and husband Andre Groenewald, daughter Liesl Huddleston and husband Brian Huddleston, son Erick Grove and wife Hannah Grove, his grandchildren, Daniel Huddleston, Lara Groenewald, Nathan Huddleston, and Brooklyn Grove, his brother, Lionel Grove, and sister, Kathryn Harnden.

Eric was a faithful member of the church of Christ after being baptized into Christ when he was a teenager and worshipped until his death with the church of Christ at Custer Road in Plano, Texas.  He will be missed by his loving family, his many wonderful friends and faithful brothers and sisters in Christ, and his co-workers at Park Place Lexus in Plano where he worked for 17 years until two weeks prior to his death.

He had a passion for fly-fishing and loved to teach others how to flyfish, but he had an even greater passion for teaching everyone he knew about Christ and why He died for us.

“But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.”

A memorial service will be held on May 13th, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 2343 Lake Rd, Lavon, TX 75166.
