Cecelia Schaffer 76, of Carrollton, Texas died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Carrollton, TX. Thursday December 20, 2012. She was born May 14, 1936 in the town she so loved, Thomasville, Ga. She was the daughter of Cortez Alonzo Cooper Sr. and Billie D. Cooper and the brother of Cortez (Corty) Cooper Jr., all of whom have now welcomed her home. Infant son, Ian, will also be waiting with arms open wide. Surviving her are her husband, Terrell Schaffer, children and spoused Tarra Fiegel, Dallas, TX, Starla (Jeff) McHatton, Mesa, AZ, Brandi Melton, Dallas, TX, Lyndsey (Adam) Herrman, Olatha, KS, Troy (Kim) Schaffer, Wichita, KS, and Tara (Randy) Weekly, Springfield, MO. She was proudly blessed with 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Most of Ann's life was centered around helping others, as Mother, Nurse, and Caregiver. She was proud of her work with the less fortunate and was instrumental in helping to establish Dr. Richard Olson's Medical Clinic in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas. They worked tirelessly for 12-16 hour days providing healthcare to those who could not afford to pay or who had no health insurance. They never turned a patient away. She helped Dr. Olsen bring many, many babies into the world. Lakeview at Josey Ranch Retirement Community, Carrollton TX. has been her home for the past 2 1/2 years, where she touched everyone's life and was loved by all. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8pm at funeral home. Services will be Thursday December 27, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons. A Memorial will be at 3:00 p.m. December 27, 2012 at Lakeview at Josey Ranch, 2105 N. Josey Ln. Carrollton, TX. 75006. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, in Anne's name, and sent to Lakeview at Josey Ranch, 2105 N. Josey Ln, Carrollton, TX. 75006. Although she was blessed not to be afflicted with Alzheimers, it was a cause very dear to her Heart. Burial to be at a later date in Virginia.
