Catalina Yanez Ybarra

Catalina “Cathey” Yanez Ybarra, age 75 of Sachse, TX, passed away on September 28, 2016 in Garland, TX. She was born on February 13, 1941 in Rosebud, TX to Margarito and Virginia (Castilleja) Yanez. Cathey worked for many years as a housekeeper for several places, including Motel 6, Wylie I.S.D. and other various businesses. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and she enjoyed going for walks, dancing and listening to music.

Cathey is survived by her daughter, Anita Ponce and husband, Jesus; son, Luiz Yanez; three grandchildren, Jesse Ponce, Julee Ponce and Jacob Ponce; two brothers, Epemenio Yanez and Cruz Yanez; two sisters, Sheila Baca and Nina Gamboa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Margarito and Virginia Yanez; one son, Raymond Eugene Yanez Silva; two brothers, Juan Yanez and Francisco Yanez; five sisters, Luisa Vera Cruz, Josephine Rodriguez, Dominga Castillo, Eusebia Pecina Yanez and Bentura Yanez Gaytan.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary service at 7:00 P.M., Friday, September 30, 2016 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Sachse with Deacon Jose Enrique Lopez officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 214 S. Garland Ave., Garland, TX 75042 with Rev. Americo Lozano officiating. Interment will follow at Sachse Cemetery. The family will gather at the home of Anita Ponce immediately following the committal service.
