Cassandra Patrice Hurd,48, passed away Monday August 15, 2011 at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas.
Cassandra was born December 16, 1962 in Mobile, Alabama. She was a long time resident of the Dallas Metropolitan area. Cassandra was a tireless educator in the Texas Public School System. She really believed in the value of a good education. Cassandra graduated from Blount High School in Prichard, Alabama and went on to obtain an Associate of Science from Southwestern Christian College, a Bachelor of Business Administration from East Texas State University and a Master of Education from Texas A & M University-Commerce.
She was a loving and hard working mother. Cassandra loved to travel and sightsee. She always helped those who were in need and kept a sense of humor.
Cassandra is survived by her daughter,Crystal Nicole Jones, mother Brunetta Smith; her five brothers, Kent, Jeffery and wife Denise, Dewayne,Ronald, and Bruce; four sisters, Donna and husband Bobby,Geisele and husband Michael,Audrady, and Benita; numerous nieces,nephews,aunts,uncles,cousins,and friends.
Cassandra is preceded in death by grandparents, Peter and Marie Smith.
Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Eastgate Funeral Home Chapel. Jeffery(J.D.)Hurd will officiate. Cassandra's remains will be cremated.
Visitation will be at the Eastgate Funeral Home Chapel from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday,August 20,2011 and the family will receive friends immediately after the funeral service at the funeral home.
Arrangements under the direction of Eastgate Funeral Home, Garland,Texas.
