Carolyn received her nurse's training from West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois, where she was awarded the R.N. certification. After completing two additional years at Wheaton College, Illinois, she was granted a B.S. in nursing with honors.
Carolyn nursed in hospitals in Rochester, New York, Jackson, Michigan, and Dallas, Texas, as well as the Vincent Astor Clinic of New York Hospital. She was one of the original group of nurses employed by Medical City Dallas to establish and work in the ObGyn area. In the latter years of her career she was a school nurse in the Garland Independent School District.
She loved her family and was loved by them. Nothing was greater than her love for her family except her love for God. This love began in her childhood and continued and grew throughout her life. This led to another focus of her life: studying the Scriptures. She read and reflected on the Scriptures regularly. In addition to her personal study she participated in a Bible study at Fellowship Bible Church Dallas for a number of years. Prior to that time she had been a student in and then a group leader in Bible Study Fellowship.
She will be missed by family, friends, and all who knew her. She passed from this life believing and relying on the words of Jesus, "I am the resurrection and the life." He had given her new life and now she awaits the resurrection.
