Carolyn Marie Baca, better known as "Mama," "Grandma" or "Lynn" passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014 in McKinney, Texas from a stroke. Lynn, 61, was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana to Helen and Sylvester Gautreaux, who she now joins in heaven. She spent her young years in Lockport and Houma, La. then moved with her family to Oklahoma City where she graduated from high school. She earned her Bachelor's Degree while living in Hawaii and later her Master's in Counseling Psychology. She spent most of her professional life in the mental health field, first as a therapist, and later as a contract negotiator for health care providers.
Among Lynn's greatest joys in life were celebrating the Lord, gardening, reading and mothering/grand-mothering. Though she was endlessly dedicated to her only son Andrew, little in life was more important to her than her precious granddaughter, Lucy. Lynn was an extraordinarily giving woman and parent. She will be missed and forever remembered by her immediate family and housemates, Andrew and Lucy Baca, and by everyone she has touched during her incredible life. Lynn was the fourth of seven siblings who she is survived by. Donald & Alyson Gautreaux, Mary Helen Gautreaux, Kathy & Gerald Thompson, Mark & Jerry Gautreaux, Andy & Sally Gautreaux, Bill & Christy Gautreaux and numerous nieces and nephews.
Andrew and Lucy will receive family and friends for a memorial to celebrate her life on Saturday, March 8, 2014, 3:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 601 S. Tennessee St., McKinney, Texas 75069.
