Caroline Yang, age 44, passed from this life at her home in McKinney, Texas on October 7, 2011 from colon cancer. She was born and raised in the town of Tangyan, nestled in the hillsides of Burma's Shan State.
The natural beauty of her childhood surroundings instilled in her a lifelong love of nature and the outdoors. At the age of fifteen, she left her home to study in Taiwan, where she spent the next twenty years of her life. She completed a degree in English at National Taiwan University and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
Caroline worked for the Taiwan office of several multinational companies. In 2003 she met Scott Anderson. They enjoyed hiking and mountain biking together in Taiwan, as well as, travelling across Asia. They were married 18 months later.
Caroline moved with her husband to the US in 2005. Her first child, Alexandra was born three years later. Her son Evert was born this February. Caroline was a loving and caring mother to her children, a role she cherished.
Caroline is survived by her husband Scott, her children Alexandra and Evert, and her mother Chin Ing Yang, a sister and a brother. She was preceded in death by her father Tien Jin Yang and her brother Ahn Yang.
Caroline was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Way, which meets at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 3601 W. 15th Street in Plano, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held there on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 3 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
