On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, Carol McVay, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at age 80, after a long, intensive, and courageous battle with diabetes.

Carol was born in Beaumont Tx., on December 9, 1942, to Clyde and Stella Ellis. Her young life was spent moving to multiple cities in Virginia, then moving to Houston, TX., in 1953. Her youth included foster homes, two orphanages, Burnett Bayland Home, Houston, Tx. and Corsicana State Orphans Home, Corsicana, Tx. Carol was a member of the FBC, Corsicana. She graduated from Corsicana High School and continued her education with Rutherford Executive College of Business, Dallas, Tx. Carol worked in accounting for a data entry company and CPA firm, then onto Rockwall Nursing Care Center as Admission Coordinator/Receptionist, Rockwall, Tx., for eighteen years with an impeccable work ethic. Carol had an innate compassion for helping others, no matter what the circumstances were. She was known for her kind and compassionate smile and quick wit. She was called “Ms. Carol” everywhere and was loved by everyone she met.  She loved her gardening, country music and sports. Her walk of life demonstrated unconditional love. Carol had a driving force for her family to have the best.

She remained an avid member and loyal supporter of the Corsicana State Hm Ex-Students Alumni Association, Corsicana, Tx., remaining in contact with meetings and reunions.

Carol’s family wishes to thank Highland Meadows Health & Rehab staff, Rockwall, Tx., for the love and care during her last few years of skilled care, who adored and loved her, Lakepointe Church Highland Meadows Team, Rockwall, Tx., Pastor Bob Gilliam, Becky and Jimmy Neely, who visited Carol every week with prayer and provided music, and Gloria Parks’ undying love and visits, her longtime friend.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Harry, Tyler, Tx., daughter, Lorie Michelle Harry, Rockwall, Tx., grandsons, John Austin Smith, Rockwall, Tx., Hayden Harry, Hudson Harry, of  Tyler, Tx., granddaughter, Emily Smith, Garland, Tx., sisters, Lorraine Schriver, Plano, Tx., Kathy Rose, Temple, Tx., and brother, Clyde Jackson, San Antonio, Tx., and many much-loved nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Stella Ellis, her sister, Margaret Ann Jackson, and her brothers, Joseph Hudson, and Mickiel Ellis.

The Celebration of Life for Carol Alton McVay will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Charles W. Smith Funeral Home, 2343 Lake Rd. & Hwy 78, Lavon, TX., 75166. Visitation will be 1:00pm – 2:00pm and Services will be 2:00pm – 3:00pm. Grave side to follow Cemetery @ same location.
