Carlos T. Cava

d. June 17, 2018

Carlos T. Cava, 81, formerly of Glendale Heights, Illinois, passed away in his daughter's home on Sunday, June 17, 2018. He was surrounded by his family as he went to be with our Lord.

Mr. Cava immigrated to America during the winter of 1970. He made Chicago his hometown, eventually obtaining his first job at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Mr. Cava eventually moved his wife and two children to Glendale Heights, a suburb outside of Chicago where he purchased his first home. Mr. Cava worked his way up to his last position at the "The Fed" as a Senior Bank Examiner. While he was working, he also obtained his MBA (Master's in Business Administration) from Roosevelt University. He retired after 25 years of service with "The Fed." Soon he realized he wasn't quite ready to retire and he made a distinct choice to become a Professor and teach at the graduate level. Mr. Cava learned that he loved teaching very much, he then continued his teaching career and became a substitute teacher for the local school districts in and around Glendale Heights. Besides teaching, Mr. Cava loved to work on his garden and he didn't meet a person he couldn't talk to. He will be missed by family, friends, and acquaintances.

Mr. Cava is survived by his daughter Carmencita V. Cava and her husband Bohdan Pywowarczuk, his son Michael V. Cava and his wife Virna Esteban Cava. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carmelita V. Cava. Mr. Cava has five grandchildren who will help continue his legacy.

Mr. Cava's wake/visitation will be on Thursday, July 5, 2018, from 1700-2000 at Charles W. Smith and Sons funeral home. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Wylie Texas at 1030 the following morning, Friday, July 6, 2018. Burial will immediately follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Lavon, Texas.
