Carl Montreville McWherter

April 6, 1942 — June 9, 2013

Carl M. McWherter, III passed away on June 9, 2013 after a 21 year battle with a blood disease. He was born April 6, 1942 in Paris, Texas to Carl M. McWherter, Jr. and Margaret Davis McWherter. He attended Paris High School and the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut. He attended Southern Methodist University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. After college he served on active duty in the U. S. Army as an artillery officer. He then became a stock broker and later in 1980 a commodities broker. He then moved to Tyler and assumed responsibility for the family business, Mineola Feed Mill until it was sold. He loved coaching and trained many fine young men and women.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Charles White and his staff at Texas Oncology, the ninth floor staff at Medical City Hospital, Margie Pearl, Ruby Franks and Anna Herrera, all of whom took such loving care of Carl throughout his illness.
Carl is survived by his sister: Anne Payne and her husband Dr. Jonathan Mack Payne III, and by two daughters; Marianne Tetlow and Louisa Affatigato and their families. He made good friends with everyone he met, so his friends are too numerous to mention.
A memorial service and interment will be at DFW National Cemetery with a date to be determined. Memorials should be sent to Physician's Cancer Research Fund, 12221 Merit Dr., Suite 500, Dallas, Texas 75251, phone number is 972-490-2900, in Carl's memory or to the charity of your choice.
Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas is in charge of the arrangements.
