Carl Kocorek of Garland, Texas passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021 at the age of 92. After several months of declining health, Carl died peacefully with his beloved wife of 72 years, Margaret and their children at his side.
Born in Lorain, Ohio, Carl graduated in 1947 from Clearview High School, where he was the captain of the football team, lettering in football, basketball and baseball. He married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Margaret Kressman in 1949. Carl served in the Navel Reserve for twenty years and worked at the B & O Railroad, Lorain Water Department and B. F. Goodrich, retiring in 1991 after 29 years.
Carl was a Little League and CYO basketball manager, a charter member of St. Joseph's Athletic Association, and President of St. Joseph's Church Council in Amherst, Ohio. He was a football official for the Ohio High School Athletic Football Association for 30 years and after moving to Garland in 1992, officiated for three years in Texas. An avid golfer, he was a charter member of the Firewheel Senior Golf League and a dedicated volunteer at the course. A parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Richardson, Carl was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Devoted husband, father and grandfather, Carl was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kocorek, mother, Nellie (Dudek) Zajkowski and grandson, Michael Kocorek. He is survived by his wife Margaret, children Kenneth (KC) and Margie Kocorek, Judith Pich, Michael (Mickey) Kocorek, James and Lana Kocorek, and Barbara Kocorek; daughter-in-law Christy Browning, grandchildren Nicholas Kocorek, Alexander Pich, Emily Pich and Olivia Pich; sister Rose Marie Boris, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, September 28 at 10:30am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Richardson, followed by an internment service at the church.
