Retired Airforce Officer, Major Brett Thomas Bonin passed away at the age of 53 on Thursday, November 23, 2023 in Garland Texas.  He will be laid to rest with full military honors at the DFW National Cemetery on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 1:15pm.

Brett was born on September 22, 1970 in Thibodaux, Louisiana.  He was the oldest son of Curtis Tom Bonin and Paula Yvonne Watson.  He is survived by his loving wife of over 15 years, Cresta Marshall Bonin, and his three beautiful daughters, Sophia, Zoie and Makenzie.  He is also survived by his siblings Benjamin Bonin and Jennifer Bonin Brown and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Elie Bonin, Eve Meaux Bonin, Norman D. Watson and Louise Webb Watson.

Brett graduated from St. Amant High School in 1988 and continued his education with a Bachelors at LSU and a Master’s in Business at Southeastern Louisiana State University in 1999.  He completed his education through multiple certifications which led him into the IT Cyber Security Field.

Brett proudly served in the military and retired as, an Air Force Cyber Operations Mission Control and Army intelligence Senior Duty Officer, with over 25 years of decorated service.  He is a three-time awardee of the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal with nearly 2,000 volunteer hours.  Brett volunteered many hours outside of the military with Leadership Garland, Catholic Charities, Red Cross, Good Samaritan and many more.  If anyone every needed help, he was there for them in an instant.  Brett also led a very successful civilian life where he was a Deputy Global Chief Information Security Officer with Omnicom Group.

Brett lived for the weekends when he was able to get to his farm.  He would work from dawn to dusk taking care of his plants and animals.  This was his sanctuary.  He loved his nature walks with his family where they would pick grapes, plums and tend to the bees.

Brett will be deeply missed by anyone that has had the pleasure of crossing his path.  He never met a stranger.  Brett absolutely adored his family.  He was a devoted loving husband, father, best friend and son and he dedicated his life for his family and public service.  He never missed any sporting events or practice pertaining to his children.  He always wanted the best for them.

Our family is beyond grateful for all the support and love that we have received.

John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

In lieu of flowers for Brett’s sudden passing, please consider donating to the memorial fund for his wife and children.
