Our dear mother, Brenda Powell Zachary, of Nevada TX, sadly passed away on December 31, 2022, at the age of 73. She passed away peacefully surrounded with love by her husband and two children.
Brenda was born on May 14, 1949, to the parents of John and Katherine Powell in Dallas, Texas. Brenda was mother to Shane Zachary and Lacy Zachary. She raised her children with love and devotion in Garland, Texas along with her husband of 53 years, Marlin Zachary.
For 31 years, Brenda worked for the Garland Independent School District serving students in technology education. These 31 years were spent at Coyle Middle School and Schrade Middle School. Brenda took pride in her job and found it rewarding to work with numerous students and teachers.
A reunion in heaven awaited with her siblings, Johnny Powell, Mary Zachary and Mark Powell along with other close family members and friends. Brenda is survived by her husband and two children.
Brenda was the best mom, wife and friend that anyone could hope to have. She always put her family first including her husband and two children. She was a special person and everyone that knew her would agree. Her personality drew people in and she never met a stranger. Brenda could make you feel like you were best friends even if you just met. As many would say, she touched lives with her kindness and always made time to talk to anyone who needed a listening ear.
She had a strong, uncompromising faith and knew what awaited in the next phase of life. We know she is home with family and friends reunited with those who preceded her in entering the gates of heaven. On December 31, 2022, the world lost someone that held faith, family and friends with unending love. If you knew Brenda, you can say that you knew a beautiful soul. She is already missed and will never be forgotten as her family and friends loved her so dearly.
As we remember the good times with Brenda, we cannot imagine the world without her. A new chapter has begun for her and she has a plan for all of us. Just remember her smile and how she lit up the room along with her unending love for her husband and children, her pride and joy.
In keeping with Brenda’s wishes, a celebration of life will not be held at this time. If you knew Brenda, then you can hear her saying, “No sad singing or slow walking.” Her ashes will forever be honored with love and the spirit of happiness that she was known for. May God bless the best mom, wife and friend.
