Brenda Gail Prater

Brenda Gail Prater, 65, of Garland, Texas, passed away on Feb 26^th, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer. 

Brenda Prater was born on April 9^th, 1958 to AJ Ashworth and Eloise Sanders in Pasadena, Texas.   

In 1980, Brenda met Joseph at Fiesta Lanes in Garland, Texas. Brenda and Joseph married in August of 82 went on to have 3 children, Teran, Joshua, and Nathan.

Brenda worked for Southwestern Bell for many years first as a telephone line installer and then later as a drafting clerk.   After she left Southwestern Bell she focused on family and eventually began her own house cleaning business, Hometown Cleaning Services. Brenda loved supporting family in their endeavors never missing a ballgame and rarely missing theatrical performances.  In her spare time, she loved traveling and one of her favorite places to go was the Eureka Springs, Arkansas/Branson, Missouri area.  

Proceeded in death by her mother Eloise Sanders and niece Amanda Cruz, Brenda is survived by Joseph Prater (husband), Teran Hernandez (Daughter) and wife Brenda, Joshua Prater (Son), Nathan Prater (Son) and wife Amber and her brother Michael and his wife Gwen.  Four grandchildren Jordan, Mark, Tyler, and Hannah and one great grandchild, Remington as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and other family members.   

Services will be held at Charles W. Smith Funeral home in Lavon, Texas on March 3^rd, 2024 with the viewing at 1pm and the service starting at 2pm, burial following immediately afterward.
