Brenda Brister

Brenda Brister passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. She was surrounded by her family at home on the ranch in Princeton, Texas.

Brenda was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas on October 15, 1949 to Andrew "Dutch" Pool and Sybil Mobley Pool. She was the youngest of 7 siblings. Brenda graduated from Rains High School in East Texas.

Brenda enjoyed spending time with her husband, Donald W. Brister. Don and Brenda were married on October 30, 1970. During their marriage, they lived in Texas, Colorado, Illinois, and Tennessee. After moving around the country, the couple settled back in Springtown, Texas, where they lived until moving to Princeton in 2008. In 2008, Brenda and Don were able to move out to help establish the Hawkeye Ranch in Princeton, Texas, where they lived with their son and his family on 105 acres. Brenda loved to watch the exotic animals they raised as they roamed the property.

Brenda and Don have two children - Kimberley Garrett and Timothy Brister. When both kids were younger, Brenda was a dedicated "Band Mom." She enjoyed playing the piano and watching old movies and musicals. As the kids grew, Brenda found additional ways to occupy her time. She took great pride in her job as Insurance Coordinator at Tim's dental office in McKinney. The staff at the office referred to her as "Mama Brenda," and she was always there to offer a hug or a smile to anyone who needed it. She also thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren on the ranch, attending their events, and teaching them how to cook.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 51 years, Don. She is also survived by her son Tim Brister and his wife Heather, and her daughter Kim Garrett and her husband Mike. Her grandchildren ( Paige, Hayden, Asher, Trinity, and Hunter Brister, and Kristen and Matthew Garrett) will greatly miss their Tanta. Brenda will be missed by many loving siblings, cousins, family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 starting at 12:00 PM. Some of Brenda's favorite foods and drinks will be served. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM. All services will be held at The Hawkeye Ranch, 3150 Hawkeye Trail, Princeton, Texas 75407. Burial will be at the Hawkeye Cemetery located on site.
