Bobby Gene Roberts

Bobby Gene Roberts, age 66 of Blue Ridge, Texas, passed away on October 22, 2017 at his home. He was born on February 21, 1951 in McKinney, Texas to Bobby Joe and Betty Jene (Kelly) Roberts. Bobby married Kathleen Duncan on October 28, 1983 in McKinney, Texas. He worked for Cargil Steel and Wire for twenty-five years and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwall, Texas. Bobby liked to fish, watch westerns, and tinker with things around the house, but his favorite thing to do, as he was quite ornery, was to pick at his grandchildren in fun. He loved to have a good time and laugh with his family, and they will never forget the love he bestowed on each of them.

Bobby is survived by his wife of almost 34 years, Kathy Roberts; one son, EddieChildress and wife, Crystal; two daughters, Christie Wainscott and husband, Kevin, and Shawna Davidson; eight grandchildren, Justen, Billy Bob, Jorden, Terry Don, Kaylyn, Haley, Heather, and Megyn; and two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Bo Dale. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Joe and Betty Roberts; and one brother, Rickey Roberts.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Chapel, 601 S. Tennessee St., McKinney, Texas 75069, with Pastor Duane Crane officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Wilson Chapel Cemetery, 200 Chapel Lane, Lowry Crossing, Texas 75069.
