Bobby Ray Boswell

Bobby Ray Boswell went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 5, 2022. Bobby Ray Boswell was born on November 16,1932 to Otto and Lorene Boswell in Waxahachie, Texas. Bob grew up in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area and graduated from Waxahachie High School where he excelled in athletics including track, baseball, and basketball. In lieu of attending Southern Methodist University on a basketball scholarship, he instead borrowed $328.00 from his aunt to attend Draughon's Business College, where he received a degree in Business Administration.

Immediately following college, Bob accepted employment as an Accountant with Carrier-Bach, soon after moving on as an Accountant for Elzberry Company. This was Bob's first experience in the world of hollow metal. Following his employment at Elzberry, Bob accepted a position as an Accountant with Blue Diamond Company which sold masonry, hollow metal, and hardware. Bob excelled at his bookkeeping position soon asking to become a Salesman. The owner made Bob a deal: get the back log to over $25,000 and he would allow Bob to sell hardware full time. Bob quickly met this goal, becoming one of Dallas's top hardware salesmen.

In 1963, while still at Blue Diamond, Bob received his AHC accreditation. Due to Bob's strong work ethic and vast knowledge, he was well-known throughout the hardware industry. It was during this time that Bob's dear friend, George Vaulot Sr., asked Bob if he was interested in a position at Piper-Weatherford Company. In 1976 Bob purchased Piper-Weatherford Company, where he remained for over fifty years.

Amongst Bob's many accomplishments he was also an instructor and grader for DHI for thirty-five years. He received his DAHC in 1995, as well as the title of Fellow, the highest honor in this accreditation.

On June 11,1964 Bob married the love of his life, Mary Jean Boswell. For over 50 years they walked hand in hand, side by side, in love and in life, until she went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in February 2020. Together they had two children, a son, Scott, and a daughter, Kari.

Bob was an active member of First Baptist Garland, serving as a Deacon from 1977 until his death.

During his time as owner of Piper-Weatherford, Bob loved the people who worked with him and along side him. Bob treated everyone like they were extended members of his family. Outside of Bob's own immediate family, Piper-Weatherford was one of the greatest sources of pride and joy for him. Bob believed in the products that Piper-Weatherford sold and valued every customer they serviced.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother and father, and his beloved wife, Mary Jean Boswell.

Bob is survived by his brother: Carl Boswell, sister: Ann Kent. Children: Robert Steven and Gayle Boswell, Dan and Susan Dunham, Gary and Lori Edel, Robert Scott and Lisa Boswell and Patrick and Kari Scherf. Grandchildren: Sarah Boswell, Nathan Dunham, Chris Edel, Andy Dunham, Eric Edel, Paul Boswell, Kyle Edel, Alysa Edel, Meghan Rannebarger, Ali Boswell, Colton Lester, Baileyane Lester, Macy Boswell, Blaze Boswell, Trapper Boswell, Cashton Lester, 14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues and coworkers.

A viewing for Bob will be held Wednesday March 9, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith and Son's Funeral Home located at 2925 Fifth Street, Sachse, TX 75048. A Memorial Service will be held at Thursday March 10, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. followed by a private family graveside service.

A reception will be held following the graveside service, located at The Inspiration Community Clubhouse located at 1715 Inspiration Blvd. Wylie, TX 75098.
