Bob Ralph Qualls

Bob Ralph Qualls was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, October 1st, 2019 at his home in McKinney, Texas. He passed peacefully in his sleep with family by his side. He was 89.

Bob was born during a snow storm on Christmas Eve 1929 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Otis and Ethel Qualls. He had three siblings: Melba, David, and Kathy. He spent his early years managing his paper route, repairing bicycles, working in theatres, working on cars, and helping his parents with their farming. He also enjoyed playing guitar, poker, dominoes, horseshoes, and golf along with bowling and riding motorcycles.

After graduating from Shawnee High School in 1947, he dated Billie Jean LaClaire and married her in 1952. They celebrated 63 years of marriage together before her passing in 2015. He is now reunited with the love of his life from whom he was too long separated. Bob and Billie had three children together: Karen, Debbie, and Mike. There are also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many loving extended family members.

Bob earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1953 and went on to complete his Master of Science from the University of Tulsa in 1965. His endeavors led him to the oil and gas industry as a Geophysicist until retirement. He was also a teacher for a time in the early years.

Bob left his family and friends with a bounty of wisdom, strength, and most of all, love.

He will live on through us. We will miss him dearly and there will be sad times but not sad lives. Those we hold closest to our hearts never truly leave us. They live on in the kindness they have shared and the love they brought into our lives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 19th, 2019 at 10:00 O'clock a.m. at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, 601 South Tennessee Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
