Billy Ray McIntire

Billy Ray McIntire, a longtime resident of Garland, Texas died peacefully in his home in Royse City on May 30, 2024 at the age of 91. He was born March 14, 1933 in Garland, Texas. He worked as a Chief Systems Operator for the City of Garland, where he was employed for 45 years. 

To honor his and his father’s combined 89 years of service to the City of Garland, the Control Center was renamed the “McIntire Electric Operations Center” in 1997.  

He was the last original founding member of the First Assembly of God in Garland, Texas now known as First at Firewheel.  Faithfully served at the church for 86 years in many ways. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Buck and Ethel McIntire, brother, Buck McIntire Jr., sister Barbara Jacobs, and son, Kevin McIntire. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bernita McIntire, son, Jeff McIntire, son and daughter in law, Craig and Maranna Pruitt, daughter and son in law, Tamara and Mike McCord, son and daughter in law, David and Tammi Pruitt, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and special friends. 

Visitation will be at Charles W. Smith Funeral Home in Sachse on June 6, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  

A Celebration  of Life will be held on June 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at First at Firewheel in Garland, officiated by Pastor Josh Satterfield. 

Interment to follow at Sachse Cemetery.
