Bettye Jo Coldwell Crawford a.k.a. “Boots” went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2025. Bettye was born in Garland on August 19, 1932 to Lillie Pace and BW Coldwell Senior. Bettye was one of 10 children. She was a proud lifetime resident of Garland. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband Gene in 2020, and elder son Larry in 2001. She is survived by one son, Randy Crawford of Maryland, two grandsons Joshua Crawford and Zachary Crawford of Arkansas, two great-grandsons Zachary Crawford and Jona Crawford of Arkansas, and one great-grand daughter Ayla Carlson of Texas. In addition she is survived by her brother, Rex Coldwell and his wife Suzanne of Austin. She is also survived by many other family members and close friends.
Bettye was a lifetime member of Big Springs Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as the church secretary for many years. At the time for death, she was still an employee at South Garland High School as a paraprofessional running the copy center. Previously she served as an officer in the Dallas County Republican Women’s Club and the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. Her proudest recent accomplishment was in 2022 graduating from the Garland Police Citizens Academy where she was an alumni.
