Betty Lou Windsor

Betty Lou Windsor, age 84 of Garland, TX, passed away on January 18, 2017 in Garland. She was born on December 19, 1932 in Cumby, TX to James Monroe and Linnie Lee (Cooper) Simmons. Betty spent her life as a homemaker taking care of her family, and she was of the Baptist faith. Betty was a great cook, and she enjoyed country music, figure skating and decorating her home, but her favorite way to spend her time was with her family. She loved being with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her door was always open to everyone.


Betty is survived by her daughter, Lynda Gonzales and husband, Reyes Gonzales, Jr.; daughter, Lue Ann Cannon and husband, Bill; son, Bruce Windsor and Shelly Griffin; daughter-in-law, Sherry Windsor; six grandchildren, Reyes Gonzales III, Christina Grubbs, Elliott Chiles, Russell Cannon, Ethan Chiles, and Lauren Windsor; six great grandchildren, Khristina Munoz, Gabriel Guerrero, Alisha Grubbs, Emma Gonzales, Thomas Gonzales, and Aaron Chiles; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings, Doyle Simmons, Louise Nichols, Freddie Young, Lee Simmons, Joe Rush, Marie Stroud, and James Simmons; and her oldest son, Thomas Windsor.


Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, January 20, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Funeral Home Sachse. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Charles W. Smith and Sons Chapel in Sachse with Pastor Tim Hamontree officiating.
