Betty Jean Smith

Betty Jean Smith "Ms Betty" longtime resident of Sachse passed away Sunday November 17, 2013 with her loving family at her side. She was born August 31, 1950 to George Edwin Rushing and Willa Brooks Hicks Rushing in Dallas, Texas. She married Tommy Ray Smith on February 10, 1975 in Garland, Texas. She was a Librarian and retired after over 20 years with the Sachse Public Library. Most people knew her as "Ms Betty" especially the children. She loved to read and really enjoyed the time she dedicated to the Story Time Program For Children at the Library. She was also in charge of the Summer Reading Program before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Willa Rushing.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Ray Smith; daughter, Amy Smith; sons, Benjamin and William Smith; brother, Ray Rushing and his wife Linda; nieces, Susan Adams and Sharon Grimes and numerous friends.
