Betty Mastick

Betty Mastick was born March 26, 1935 in Springfield, Illinois to the late Lola Sands Cook and Robert O. Cook. In 1953, she was married to Ford Mastick.
After moving to Jackson, Tennessee, she became Vice President and General Manager of WDXI Radio and WJHR. A member of the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters, she was the first female to serve on the board of directors. After leaving broadcasting, she co-founded an accounts receivable firm of which she was Chairman and CEO. Betty represented Tennessee at the White House Conference on Small Business in Washington, DC and was featured in Nations Business magazine. She served on the Tennessee Advisory Board of the Small Business Administration. She retired in 2003.
Betty was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, an ordained Elder and ordained Deacon. She also served as Chair of the Deacon Board, Clerk of the Session, Personnel Chair and other positions. Betty was the first female member of the Civitan International, Jackson and served as President, and also served as president of Altrusa International, Jackson. She also was Chairman of State of Tennessee American Heart Association after having served in many volunteer capacities for Heart throughout West Tennessee. She served on several boards such as Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Jackson Arts Council, West Tennessee Health Care Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, and Salvation Army. She was named City Maker in 1980.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ford Mastick. She was also preceded in death by her son; Thomas Alan Mastick, her parents; Robert O. and Lola M. Cook, and sister; Sharon K. Cook Loyd.
Betty is survived by her son; Ronald Lee Mastick, her daughter; Janice Lynn Waggoner and husband Kirk, and by Thomas's wife Beth. She is also survived by grandchildren; Melissa Beasley, Bryan Mastick, Sara Page, Margaret Mastick, Michelle Archer, Erick Mastick, Colleen Waggoner and Harry Mastick. Betty is also survived by great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
