Bert Randall Riemenschneider

April 5, 1940 — September 15, 2019

Bert Randall Riemenschneider, 79, of Murphy, Texas passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by family on September 15, 2019. He was born in San Antonio, Texas and is survived by his wife, Suellen, 3 children: Terry Sims and husband Randy, Scott Riemenschneider and wife Lindsay and Robert Riemenschneider, 5 grandchildren; Mathew and Daniel Fought, Isaac and Kaleb Graham and Jacob Riemenschneider and 6 great-grandchildren.

Bert had a passion for science and photography. Being the photographer of course there were very few photos of Bert himself.

Bert attended Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Rice University in Houston and served 4 years in the U.S. Navy as a gunnery officer on the USS Dealey destroyer escort and 1 year teaching chemistry at the U.S. Naval Academy. After the Navy he went back to school to get his PHD at LSU in chemical physics, later doing post doctorate work at TCU and then landed his long time career with Texas Instruments as an engineer with over 15 patents. He retired in 2001.

Bert was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren every time they came to visit.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Foundation.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home of Sachse, Texas.
