Benjamin Vernon Norris

Benjamin Norris, 88, passed away August 31, 2013 at Baylor Hospital in McKinney, Texas. He was born June 18, 1925 in McKinney, Texas. He was the youngest child of Eli and Susanna (Lockhart) Norris. Ben was the pastor at Throckmorton Street Church of Christ for 54 years. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a longtime cleaning service worker, employed by local businesses such as McCandless, Southerlands, and City Cleaners. Ben was well known for his love of fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Frances Norris; one nephew, Robert (Ruby) Kelly of Dallas, and a host of relatives, friends and church family. Ben is preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters, Susanna Newton, Minnie Smith, Vera Norris, Doris Norris, and Alice Stewart; 4 brothers, Clarence, Eli, Jr., Walter, and Matthew Norris. The family will receive visitors beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Throckmorton Street Church of Christ in McKinney. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be at Ross Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in McKinney.
