Benjamin Michael Johnson

Benjamin “Ben” Johnson, 46, of Carrolton, died March 21, 2017 due to health complications. He was born February 3, 1971 in Elmhurst Illinois. Ben graduated from Plano East Senior High School in 1989 and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1994. Ben suffered a neck injury at the age of 17 that bound him to a wheelchair for the last 29 years of his life. Ben was an inspiration to many as he overcame and persevered through his accident helping others to overcome life’s challenges. He worked in the healthcare business at AmeriGroup RealSolutions.

Ben is survived by his parents Terri Bittinger of Plano; Al Johnson and wife Mindy of Berryville; his son Jacob Johnson; his brothers Matt, Marcus, and Michael, and his sister April. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, devoted caregivers and the many friends he made throughout his life.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Charles W Smith and Sons Funeral Home in McKinney. The visitation will be Sunday March 26, 2017 from 6-8pm at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be held on Monday March 27 at 1:00p.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plano.
