Barbara Janice Young

January 17, 1942 — January 11, 2016

Barbara Janice Bryson Young, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Waxahachie, Texas on Monday, January 11, 2016, after a long battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).



A loving mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother and friend, Mrs. Young was born in McKinney, Texas on January 17, 1942 to Lowell W. and Gladys (Howard) Bryson. She graduated from Allen High School. She was retired from Lone Star Gas in Dallas where she worked for 42 years. She loved her grandchildren, Elvis Presley and watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks.



Barbara is survived by her son Jody, his wife Erika and their two children – Hailey and Ashlyn – all of Waxahachie, TX brothers Billy Joe Bryson and wife Betty Dee of Pilot Point, TX, W.L. (Bud) Bryson and wife Susan of Prosper, Texas, Jerry Bryson and wife Barbara of Collinsville, TX, Charlie Bryson and wife Sheryl of Ardmore, OK, sister Helen Bryson of Plano, TX., also many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Gladys, Brothers; L.B. Bryson, Harold E. (Ped) Bryson, and Sister Melba June Baxter.



Graveside services will be Friday, January 15. 2016 at 1:00 at St. Olive/Williams Cemetery in McKinney, TX. Active pallbearers are Andy Baxter, John Bryson, Scott Bryson, Kirk Bryson, Matthew Bryson, Ryan Wilson and Justin Wilson.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests to donate blood or make a donation to the Leukemia Foundation.
