Barbara Lee Bennett, age 73, of Garland, Texas, passed away July 19, 2015 in Garland. Barbara was born August 11, 1941 in Dallas, Texas to George T. and Virginia May Wall Pitts.
She was a sixty-two year resident of Garland and graduated from Garland High School in 1959. Barbara married Joe Bennett at the First Christian Church on June 2, 1961. She was a previous member of Oak Ridge Women's Golf Association. Barbara loved to travel and has been on many cruises.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Joe Bennett; two sons, Jeff Bennett and his wife, Terri and Kyle Bennett and his wife, Jenny; four grandchildren, Paige, Reed, Payton, and Claudia; her brother, Mark Pitts and his wife, Pam; extended family, Bobbie and Morris Johnson, Doug and Sandy Bennett, Jimmie Hannan, Wendy and Gary Day, and Vicki and David Bunch; her beloved feline companion, Roxy; and numerous other family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 24, 2015 at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 2925 5th Street, Sachse, Texas 75048. Reverend Earnest Walt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Barbara's memory to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, North Texas Chapter, 8111 LBJ Freeway, Suite 425, Dallas, Texas 75251 www.lls.org or the charity of your choice.
