Baltazar (B.B.) Alvarez III, of Sachse, Texas, aged 56 passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:05 p.m.
Baltazar was born in Brownsville, Texas on August 16, 1965, and moved to Dallas in 1970. B.B. loved knowledge and learning. The following are the schools he attended:graduated from Garland Christian Academy in 1983, attended Delmar College in Corpus Christi,graduated from Columbia School of Broadcasting in 1987, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in BiblicalStudies from Criswell College in 2001, graduated with a Master's in Theology from Criswell College in
2003, and was ABD for his Ph.D. in education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Baltazar served as professor for nineteen years at Criswell College, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Brookhaven College. He also served as minister of music and worked with youth and college students, and as a Sunday school teacher in several churches for a total of twenty-nine years of ministry. He was a man of many trades and skills such as coffee connoisseur, photographer, writer, meme king, JFK memorabilia collector, hat collector, record collector, chaos coordinator, and all around crazy cat man.
He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Georgia Dodson-Alvarez, sister, Cynthia Alvarez, and niece, Dasha (Atlas) Alvarez, sister-in-law, Cheryl Dodson-Dowling, brother-in-law, Steven Dowling, and two nephews, William and Alexander Dowling.
He was preceded in death by his father, Baltasar Alvarez Jr., mother, Maria Lupita Castillo Alvarez, and brother, Cristobal Alvarez.
A viewing for Baltazar (B.B.) Alvarez III will be held Tuesday, May 10 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with the funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Lavon Drive Baptist Church located at 1520 Lavon Drive, Garland, TX 75040.
