Augusta Lou Otte

August 14, 1941 — January 26, 2024

Sachse

Lou passed away peacefully in Garland, Texas on January 26, 2024.  She was born August 14, 1941, in Florien, Louisiana to Bill Jordan and Lola Peterson Jordan.

She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.   Lou met her future husband as teenagers, while attending church in Odessa, Texas.

She graduated from high school in 1959, attended Odessa College and then transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Lou married Alvin M. Otte for time & all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1961 and started their family the following year.

Over the years, their family lived in Utah, Idaho, and Texas, eventually settling in Weatherford, Texas and then the Glen Rose/Granbury area.

With her two oldest children raised and two young boys and a baby still at home, Lou returned to college.  In 1990, she completed her degree in Elementary Education at Tarleton State University.  She retired from teaching, after a twenty-year career.

Lou loved children—her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, students, anyone’s children. And they loved her.  She enjoyed reading, embroidery, quilting and fitness, and participated in a half marathon after her retirement.

She loved any time spent with family & friends (be it a reunion or just an impromptu get-together) sharing stories with her children, grandchildren, siblings, cousins, nephew, niece & friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lola Jordan, her husband Alvin, her son, John, and her grandson, Jacob.

She is survived by her sister, Billie Jones; her brother, Walter Jordan (Cindy); her son, Marc (Victoria); her daughter, Julie; her son, Bill; her son, Paul (Becky); her grandchildren, Benjamin (Annie); Catelyn Ward (Eric); Daniel (Amy); Hans, Liesl, Gabi, Ky, and Lizzie; and her great-grandchildren, Jack, Tommy, Cami, Daniel, Jennie, and Everett.  As well as a host of friends and relatives.
