Audry Rose Wickman

Audry Rose Wickman, age 81, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Audry had just spent a loving Easter with all of her children and was traveling with her husband, Leonard, to their home in Dubuque, Iowa when she died as the result of injuries from an auto accident. Audry was born to the late Joseph and Rose Meis on August 28, 1932 in Dyersville, Iowa.
Audry met Leonard in Farley High School and they were married while he was serving in the U.S. Army in Ft. Bliss, Texas. They were married at Saint Joseph's Church in Farley, Iowa on February 17, 1953.
Audry worked in Dubuque for Cresent Electric Company, K-Mart and Dubuque Abstract and Title Company. After retiring, Audry was a volunteer at Mercy Hospital where she loved helping families and patients. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa. She was a devout Catholic and lived her life as a steadfast Christian.
Audry loved her family and was always there to listen to them or engage them in a game of cards. She loved to hear about the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Every day Audry read the newspaper from cover to cover, worked all the puzzles, and cut articles to send to her family. They will all miss her guidance.
Audry is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leonard Wickman of Dubuque, Iowa; four children, Dr. Terrance J. Wickman and wife, Diana of Garland, Texas, Lynn Marie Wickman Garcia and her husband Oscar of McKinney, Texas, Randy E. Wickman and wife Ronda of McKinney, Texas, and Roger L. Wickman and wife, Heather, of Little Elm, Texas; six grandchildren, Joseph and John Wickman, Savana, Siena and Seth Wickman and Boone Wickman. She also leaves behind a sister, Jayne Ostwinkle and husband, Mickey of Worthington, Iowa, and two brothers, Donald Meis and wife, Andrea of Laredo, Texas and Jerry Meis and wife Patricia of Iowa City, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Audry at St. Michael's Church of McKinney on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. A visitation will take place during which a Rosary will be prayed prior to the Mass on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home at 601 S. Tennessee St. McKinney 75069. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in Lowry Crossing. Arrangements were provided by Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in McKinney, Texas.
