It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Papi, Antonio Leal Aragonez Jr. Better known as Tony, who passed away on June 28, 2023, in McKinney, Texas at the age of 72. Tony was born in San Juan, Texas to Antonio and Florinda Aragonez on August 15, 1950.
The family moved to McKinney in the mid 50’s where he lived till the early 90’s when he moved to Princeton, Texas.
Tony was certified as a Journeyman through the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America in 1980. Tony worked in construction for many years and later started working as a Maintenance Contractor for Pilkenton Real Estate where he worked for 28 years. Tony was known as a Jack of all trades and was the first person we would call for advice when something wasn’t working.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents Antonio Aragonez Sr. and Florinda Herrera, sister Juanita Aragonez, brother Salvador Herrera, Son Juan Aragonez, Daughter Bernadette Medrano, and Grandson Roberto Guerrero IV.
Tony was the patriarch of a large and extended family. Tony is survived by the love of his life “his Hunny” Dominga Aragonez, and their five sons and three daughters whom he was exceptionally proud of. Rosalinda Rodriguez and her husband Oscar, Roberto Guerrero III, and his Wife Zinia, Alicia Cruz, J. Damian Guerrero Sr. and his wife Marcela, Juanita Aragonez, Pablo Olvera and his wife Lauren, Albert Olvera, and Mario Olvera. Tony was the proud grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Tony was a father figure and mentor to many, often referred to as Tio Tony or Grandpa as a sign of respect and admiration.
Tony is also survived by his two brothers and three sisters. Roy Aragonez Sr. and his wife Olga, Eddie Aragonez, and his wife Eva, Librada Valverde and her husband Jesse, Menda Rangel and her husband Alfredo, and Susie Camarillo and her husband Jesus, and many nephews and nieces.
Tony was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and taking family cruises. If you needed to find Tony in the Spring, he would be at the lake fishing. If you needed him in the Fall, he would be at his deer lease or fishing in Galveston, any other time he was either planning or preparing for a hunting or fishing trip. Tony loved the opening weekend of hunting where he would help coordinate a large gathering of family and friends at Davy Crockett National Forest. Tony loved being with family and friends and loved going on cruises with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends. Tony was known for using Fedora hats that he often wore, which unmistakably identified him, and only a few could pull off wearing a Fedora like Tony.
Tony’s greatest passion was family, he touched the lives of many and was a positive influence and role model to us all. Tony was very wise and considered a person you could trust to give you good advice when needed. Tony had a huge heart and would do anything to help his family and friends and he will be dearly missed.
His sudden passing has been a complete shock to us all, but we are comforted by the fact that he is free of the frustration and pain from his recent medical issues and can finally rest in peace.
