Anabeth Field

ANABETH FIELD, 88, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 13, 2023. "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

Born in 1934, in Cleveland, Texas, Anabeth often helped her mother and father as she worked in their cafe and the various stores they operated. Her parents were devout Christians, and they sacrificed to send their daughter to piano lessons so she could be their church pianist. In addition, they continued to sacrifice in order to send Anabeth to college, and she graduated from Baylor University in 1955 with a degree in music and education.

A teacher in Arlington schools, Anabeth married John E. “Jack” Field in 1956, and after four years they moved from Arlington to Livermore, California, where she continued teaching in elementary schools. There she also continued to sing soprano and play piano in her local church.

Upon her retirement in 1995, she and Jack returned to Texas to settle in Mansfield, and they were again members of First Baptist Church, Arlington. An active member in the church choir, she welcomed those who were new to the church. She especially enjoyed her work with the foreign students of UT Arlington who attended her church, playing piano for their fellowship every Sunday morning.

In early 2019, she moved to Twin Rivers Assisted Living in Richardson, Texas, where she befriended many and continued to welcome newcomers, letting her light shine, singing and playing piano along the way.

Anabeth will be interred at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, together with her husband, Jack.

A memorial service will be held at Twin Rivers Assisted Living on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 3:30 pm where her friends and family will celebrate her life.

A loving wife of 46 years, a dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Anabeth is survived by her son, Captain John Field, a retired Naval Officer, and wife, Theresa, of Garland, Texas, her daughter Julee Martin, and husband, Dan, of Madison, Alabama, four grandchildren, Chris, Robert, Kim and TJ, and three great grandchildren, Amelia, Jacqueline and Allison, as well as many nieces and nephews with their children. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. “Jack” Field, her parents Louis Clarence Tanner and Clyde Eloise Tanner of Cleveland, Texas and her brother, Louis Clarence “LC” Tanner, Jr., and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Tanner, of Corpus Christi, Texas.
