Amelie Josephine Gross was born to Willem VanBuyten & Magdalena Philomene Herremans on July 7th, 1934 in Sint-Stevens-Woluwe, Belgium and passed away at her home peacefully on November 8th, 2021 in Sachse, Texas.
In her younger years she polished jewelry in the most prestigious jewelry store in Belgium (supplier to the Royal Court). She has also polished the royal tiara of the future Queen of the Belgian's, which is to say the confidence that was placed on her under the age of thirty!
Amelie married Lloyd Gross on October 16th, 1969 in Farmersville, Texas.
Soon after coming to the United States she was overwhelmed with the different religions; she said a prayer to God and the next morning a couple of Witness' knocked on her door and from then on, she dedicated her faith to Jehovah.
Amelie was a strong, natural athlete in swimming and gymnastics. Her pastime hobbies included bowling, knitting, and painting along with spending time with her six grandchildren. Anyone that came over to the house, whether a stranger or friend, would be offered a fresh pot of coffee and Belgium chocolates she kept in stock.
Amelie is preceded in death by her parents, Willem and Magdalena VanBuyten and her sister Lisette VanBuyten.
Amelie is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Lloyd Gross of Sachse, TX, her son's Jeronimo Izquierdo Prieto, Michel Izquierdo Prieto, and wife Andree Van Hecke (Belgium), Jason Gross and wife Julie Gross of Waxahachie, TX and daughter Lisette Barnett and husband Deric Barnett, Sachse TX. Grandchildren – Virginie Izquierdo Prieto, Kevin Izquierdo Prieto, Preston Gross, Ryan Gross, Connor McNamara, Nathan McNamara and Bradley Barnett and great grandchild Nathan Izquierdo Prieto.
A memorial service will be held at Charles W. Smith & Son's Funeral Home in Sachse, Texas on December 3rd at 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Officiating will be Brother Brad Ries.
