Alan Leroy Hochstein

Alan Leroy Hochstein passed away November 1, 2013 at age 75 in Garland, Texas. He was born on August 3, 1938 to Vern and Sue Hochstein in Osceola, Iowa.

After high school graduation Alan served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1959, with the Airborne Early Warning and Control System based in Guam. He graduated from Iowa State University in June 1963 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. His career included work at Lockheed Aircraft in California and Marietta, Georgia, LTV in Grand Prairie, Texas, McDonnell Douglas in Houston, Rockwell and United Space Alliance in Webster, Texas. He received the Manned Flight Awareness Honoree Award from NASA and the Silver Snoopy Award from the Astronauts for his work on the approach and landing phase of Shuttle Flights.

Survivors include his wife Rose Mary for 55 years; their three sons, Brian and wife Anika, Eric, Kurt and wife Charlene; grandchildren Chloe, Erika, Caroline, Daniel, Henry, Isaac, Brooke, and Luke; brother Lee and wife Patricia; sister Sandra; sister-in-law Frances and Don Crawford, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dan, and infant grandson Christopher.

Alan enjoyed photographing his grandchildren, nature, especially bluebonnet trips, music and traveling.
